ALUMNI

Why was the Alumni group formed? The Trust gives you so much as students that once you have graduated you want to give something back. The Alumni group was formed in response to that common desire.

Who is involved in the Alumni group? The Alumni group is open to all former recipients of a Keystone award. We have a core group of about ten, also known as the Bringans’ Brats & Keystone Kids, who are the main driving force. The majority of this group is based in Auckland, with outposts in Wellington, Christchurch and the Middle East.

What is the purpose of the Alumni group? The main objective of the Alumni is to keep the student network alive. In 1999, the first students were graduating and there were only 14 students altogether. This year there are 28 students currently completing their degrees and over 38 Alumni so the growth of the Trust over the last 10 years has been phenomenal.

What does the Alumni group do? In Auckland, where the majority of the students and Alumni are based, we organise information evenings at sponsor companies for the current students to get some inside knowledge about the industry and how their particular profession fits into it. In Wellington and Christchurch, where the student base is smaller, the events are usually a social catch up with students & Alumni when a Trustee is in town and we have plans to expand on industry involvement. Also, as the Alumni have “been there, done that” not just studying but in terms of having been involved in the Trust, we are a less intimidating source of advice for the current students.

How can you help? We are keen to talk to companies who would like to host an information evening, particularly those with offices in Wellington and / or Christchurch. Please contact Barbara if you would like to be involved.
